TAPPI and NCS University co-host two ‘hands-on’ workshops
Raleigh, Carolina - The Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), in conjunction with the North Carolina State University in Raleigh, is hosting a series of ‘hands-on’ learning workshops throughout 2020.
The workshops which cover pulp and paper basics are scheduled for June 1-5, and October 5-9.
The workshops are structured to provide hands-on laboratory exercises, examine how different processes affect paper properties, and run a pilot paper machine. Those participating will learn the basic concepts of the entire pulp and paper making process as well as an overall structure of the paper industry.
The sessions will aid those wanting a better understanding of how raw materials are processed into products, technical and non-technical professions wanting a lab-focused course, new process engineers, machine operators and technicians and maintenance personnel.
TAPPI will award 3.4 continuing education units (CEUs) to participants who attend at least 80% of the education sessions and complete a program evaluation.
Attendance is limited as the workshops are geared towards smaller groups in order to provide greater assistance to individuals. Registration plus more information and a preliminary schedule for each day, can be found at http://re search.cnr.ncsu.edu/sites/fbshortcourses/ hands-on-workshop-for-pulp-and-paperbasics or through TAPPI at www.tappi. org.
