Valmet acquires J&L Fiber Services

On May 1, 2019, Finland’s Valmet completed the acquisition of J&L Fiber Services Inc., Waukesha, WI, a manufacturer and provider of refiner segments to the pulp, paper and fibreboard industry. The enterprise value of the acquisition is about €51 million on a cash and debt-free basis subject to ordinary post-closing adjustments.

J&L Fiber Services manufactures and supplies lowconsistency refiner segments complementing Valmet’s offering in refiner segments. It also supplies high-consistency refiner segments used in TMP and MDF refining.

In the last 12 months, J&L had net sales of about €30 million with an EBITA margin of around 15%. The acquired operations employ about 100 people, most being in Wisconsin. J&L Fiber Services operates globally through a sales representative and distribution network. Over 75% of its sales are in North America. The acquired business becomes a part of Valmet’s Services business line, as Waukesha Service Center.

Valmet recently bought part of North Americabased GLV.
