Emerson Speed Dryers maintain temperature range proportionally across entire working surface
Emerson Apparatus, Gorham, ME, says its Speed Dryers help to determine the moisture content of pulp, paperboard, consistency pads, newsprint, kraft, groundwood, and tissue according to applicable TAPPI, CPPA, ASTM, and APPITA test methods.
The dryers use the latest technology to consistently maintain a temperature range proportionally across the entire working surface. This eliminates nonlinearity of heat and utilizes the entire test surface. The heat plate is made of a heavy, precise, flat aluminum for accurate testing.
The dryers feature rugged construction for continuous service in pulp and paper mill laboratories and other industrial testing environments. The heavy vented cover, hinged at the rear, has a non-asbestos breathable fabric cover pad that functions as a dryer felt and presses the sample or hand sheet firmly against the flat, heated plate. A digital set point controller and a heavy-duty, solid-state relay provide reliable longlife control.
Tight PID thermal control of the heat plate allows desired temperatures to be reached fast and accurately regardless of varying load conditions; multilayer ceramic insulation maintains extremely high heat-source efficiency while the non-conductive cover handle eliminates the transfer of heat and is now cool to the touch.
The control accuracy is ±1°C at 105°C and the temperature ranges to 150°C with a 230°C version available on request.
