Emerson’s COF tester measures slide angle friction

EMERSON APPARATUS, Gorham, ME, says its Coefficient of Friction (COF) tester measures the slide angle friction of a sample sheet substrate such as paper, corrugated, paperboard or plastic film which determines the angle of inclination at which one sample affixed to a sled will begin to slide/slip against another substrate of a similar material.

Slip and friction testing helps in the evaluation of chemicals and additives used to create and minimize the degree of friction between two contacting test specimens.

Amongst the tester’s features are a digital display with 0.1-deg resolution, motor-driven elevation and simple, onebutton measurement of static COF. The COF tester is designed to meet TAPPI 815, 503, 548 and ASTM D 202.
