MTR Martco LLC: 50 years optimizing pulp, paper, recycling productivity
From roots tracing back to the late 1890s when Shartle Bros. Machine started-up in Ohio – James H. Martindale began Martco Inc. 50 years ago in Middletown, OH. Today MTR Martco LLC has become a leading machinery manufacturer and parts supplier to the pulp, paper and recycling industries.
MTR Martco now applies a full turnkey approach to optimizing pulp and paper machine productivity. It is a world leader in manufacturing and retrofitting pulper/ detrashing systems, pulper drives and replacement parts, and providing equipment to the “Green” recycling industry for over 40 years.
The company also specializes in pressure screens, high-density cleaners and parts, vacuum pumps, rotors, extraction plates, stainless-steel drumscreens and custom parts as well as design and engineering.
Allied to this is a comprehensive roll grinding service — with capacity for up to 38-in dia. x 256-in. face – through which it applies its expertise in grinding crowned, concave and controlled crown rolls, using a computerized caliper to verify the roll profile.
With each roll, a detailed report provides final diameter, finish, crown and TIR.
MTR Martco’s specialists are familiar with the unique requirements to rebuild and refurbish rolls constructed of chilled cast iron, steel, stainless steel, forged steel, brass, ceramic, rubber, composites and tungsten carbide.
The “Martco way” is to partner with customers by offering on-site auditing of production facilities and follow-up with engineering design and 3D modeling services that lend an insight to problems and possible improvements.
A resulting written proposal outlines performance objectives that can be achieved through increased production, reduced maintenance and improved quality.
As part of its turnkey design/manufacture/install philosophy, MTR Martco uses the latest CNC precision technology and has a full millwright service that installs what they build.
Says president and owner Ray McIntosh, “Today MTR Martco continues to move forward and look at innovative ways to stay at the forefront of technology, engineering, design and manufacturing to provide the highest-quality, Americanmade components and services to our diverse and growing domestic and international customer base.
“We continue to look at ways to meet our customers’ needs and endeavor to become a partner in their success. When our customers succeed, we have accomplished our goal. I look forward to what the next 50 years will bring for opportunity and growth.”
