Redesigned Emerson 1210 crush tester features touchscreen, whisper quiet operation, other enhancements

Emerson Apparatus, Gorham, ME, says its redesigned Windows-based Model 1210 crush tester is a robust, rigid-support, single-column compression tester designed to determine the compressive strength of materials for many industries including paper and corrugated.

Fortunately, protecting life and inventory is much easier for large warehouses as aspirating smoke detection (ASD) technology becomes more widely adopted. The process collects air samples through durable piping to detectors and tests it using sophisticated laser-based technology, imaging and photodiodes. Compared to traditional smoke detectors, this dramatically improves safety by detecting smoke at the earliest possible stage via numerous sampling points, while reducing false alarms and maintenance.

The redesign’s new features and improvements include:

• Touch screen: Run the Model 1210 via touch buttons on-screen with the new, nearly-flush display.
• Recessed console: Shielded from glare and recessed for protection, the heavy-duty console is more at home in industrial production environments.
• Whisper quiet: New noise dampening enclosure reduces machine operation noise to near-inaudible levels, perfect for the lab

As well, enclosure panels incorporate embedded dual-plane RFI shielding for advanced noise immunity and a greatly increased base mass increases the external vibration resistance of test mechanisms.

The new design allows the electrical rack back panel to swing down, exposing all electrical components for easy troubleshooting and maintenance.

Additional support is added for USB Wi-Fi dual-band Ethernet (purchased separately) and 10/100 wired Ethernet bulkhead connector (planned future expansion). USB inkjet printers are supported up to dotNET4.5 (low-resolution printers via basic printer drivers).

Compared to other aspirating technologies, the system saves on maintenance costs by allowing pipe runs up to 1,310 ft. (400 m) and branched pipe networks up to 2,625 ft. (800 m). This extends detector coverage and reduces the number of detectors required to protect a warehouse fire zone.

• Easy-to-read tabular report lists each result and the statistical analysis for the group of samples tested.
• Data logging capabilities add test curve output files as CSV, showing the force vs. deflection curve for each test.
• Sample rate increased to 5,000 samples/sec improves the machine’s sensitivity and response.
• Select specific fixed-parameter TAPPI specified tests (ECT, PAT, FCT, RCT, CMT and CFC), eliminating operator error PLUS User-definable tests: peak at fallback; peak at deflection; force at deflection.
• USB pen drive, calibration restoration and updates can be installed easily and used to back up data.
• Precise flatness and parallelism is held within 0.0005 in.
• Units available in Imperial or metric.
• Calibration test certificate provided per ASTM E 74.
