Expera wins BRC, ISO certifications
Kaukauna, WI-based Expera Specialty Solutions has achieved two new international product certifications.
• The BRC Global Standard – Packaging and Packaging Materials Issue 5 High Hygiene Certification went to two of its four paper mills manufacturing the largest portion of Expera’s food packaging and processing products. The facilities are the first paper mills in North America to achieve this high hygiene level of food safety certification.
The BRC High Hygiene standard provides the most rigorous framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls in the packaging and packaging materials industry. The certification assures brand owners, food packagers and manufacturers that Expera’s products meet the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
The BRC Global Standard is part of an independently audited safety and quality certification program developed by food industry experts from retailers, manufacturers, and service organizations. It is the first Packaging Standard in the world to be recognized by the GFSI committee. Over 3,500 suppliers in over 80 countries are certified to the standard and it is recommended or accepted by specifiers worldwide.
BRC certification of all Expera mills is expected before the end of 2018.
• Expera Coated Products, which provides release liner products, received ISO 9001:2015 certification at its new facility in Rhinelander, WI. The operation serves the composite and medical segments.
