American Eagle wins PA Sustainable Business Award
TYRONE, PA-BASED AMERICAN EAGLE PAPERMILLS IS THE recipient of the 2-17 Leadership in Sustainable Business Award by the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC), the Commonwealth’s oldest grassroots nonprofit organization.
American Eagle is being recognized for its production of chlorine-free paper using an innovative deinking process that allows it to recycle multiple types of paper waste.
PRC also applauded the mill’s recent Project Phoenix which replaced the mill’s coal boiler and antiquated energy distribution systems with high-efficiency natural gas boiler and power distribution systems. The project reduced the mill’s GHG emissions and cut water intake by 82%.
The award will be presented to American Eagle at the annual PRC Awards Celebration at the Villanova University Conference Center on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.
