Catalyst launches Trident and other brands
During the first half of the year Richmond, BCbased Catalyst Paper launched a series of new brands.
In June, Trident™ was announced. This wetstrength label paper, produced at the Rumford mill in Maine, is for application on water bottles, craft beer, juice bottles, wine bottles and large format containers. It is available in 47- and 60- lb basis weights (lb/3,300 ft2).
The introduction of Trident followed the May re-launch of Rumford Offset, also made at Rumford and is an uncoated freesheet paper with improved 92 brightness. Catalyst says it can build full truck loads with coated inventory. The paper is designed to work with both heat-set and coldset printing.
Other new specialty products include Glide™ Graphics release liner paper, the Leap™ family of lightweight flexible packaging papers and the Bistro™ line of uncoated food service papers.
Bistro Wax, Bistro Foil and Bistro Bag, the first entrants to the Bistro line, are specially-designed bleached grades for food service applications including wrappers, basket liners, deli papers and flat and pinch bottom bags. Available in 15- to 40-lb basis weights (lb/3,000 ft2), Bistro brands are produced at the USFDA-compliant Powell River mill in BC.
All the new brands have chain-of-custody certification under both the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFCTM) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) standards.
Trident is produced with available chain-ofcustody certification under the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC), the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) standards. The other brands are PEFC and SFI certified.
