CENIBRA Brazil to get Valmet bleach plant
Valmet, Espoo, Finland, will supply a new bleach plant to CENIBRA’s pulp mill in Belo Oriente in Brazil as part of its fiberline modernization. The plant will be able to produce 500 kt of pulp per year. Start-up is scheduled for April, 2018.
Valmet says a typical value for this scope of supply is around €30-50 million. The plant, equipped with Twin- Roll press technology, will replace the original vacuum filter plant, dating from 1977.
Celulose Nipo-Brasileira SA (CENIBRA) is one of the world’s biggest producers of bleached eucalyptus ECF pulp at about 1.2 Mt, with over 90% being exported.
Other recent contracts for Valmet pulping systems include:
• A white liquor pressure disc filter for the Mishima pulp mill in Japan is due to start up in September 2017. The debottlenecking project will increase white liquor production and includes a new OptiDisc WI, filter, pumps, piping, valves, platforms, erection and start-up services.
• Sappi’s Ngodwana mill in South Africa will replace an evaporation line to start in late 2108. Valmet will tailor the line for dissolving pulp liquor applications with six main evaporator effects, a surface condenser, flash tanks, platforms and main supporting structures, a vacuum system and vapor ducting, and liquor circulation piping. The new line 3 will feature the same REVAP concentrator technology as the recent line 2 upgrade, as well as five tube evaporators and Valmet’s patented ICT (internal condensate treatment) for producing more clean condensate for recycling in the mill. Line 3 will have a design capacity of 310 tons of water per hour, producing heavy liquor at 70% dry solids.
