FPInnovations’ Lapointe honored by Sweden, Canada

Pierre Lapointe, president and CEO of FPInnovations, Pointe Claire, QC, has been recognized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) for his contribution to science both nationally and internationally.

Lapointe was elected as an International Member of IVA, the world’s oldest engineering science academy. Under the patronage of HM King Carl XVI Gustaf, the academy aims to influence societal development and policy-making through knowledge transfer and scientific projects. The academy co-operates with similar organizations in other countries and is a member of Euro- CASE (European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences Technologies and Engineering) as well as of CAETS (International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences).

Lapointe was also elected to the College of Fellows of RCGS for his commitment to Canada and its remarkable geography. The society was founded in 1929 with the mandate of making Canada better known to Canadians and to the world. Under the patronage of the Governor General of Canada, RCGS has, for 85 years, fostered a deeper appreciation of Canada’s natural, cultural and social heritage.

Said Lapointe, “For me, this honour is much more than a personal recognition … It is recognition of the national and international stature of the Canadian forest sector and the world-class achievements it has realized over the past decade.”
